Message I have an NA that runs great and uses only the NGK Platinums per the manual spec and they last at least 60K and no lazy start problems. I would put the correct NGK Platinums in there.

If the starter was the issue it wouldn't crank at the proper rotations and you don't indicate that is the case. You indicate that the ignition gives no fire till the 2nd twist. If you have a lazy starter look into the starter relay in the driver firewall behind the tire. That can be bypassed to check the starter operation by a direct jump from the batt+ post to the attached side of the unplugged solenoid lead wire at the starter. Put key in on position and touch a lead from the solinoid wire to the batt+. If car starts with a nice crisp starter then it is OK. If the starter is lazy when operated thru the relay then the relay is propably at fault. Use only an OEM relay for replacement.

I agree with draker on the fuel pressure and that needs to be checked. But first check the regulator and modulator diaphrams for no vacuum leaks. Also no fuel on the wrong side of the diaphrams (just unplug the vacuum hose at each and smell for fuel.
